ReFuels reports 54% growth in bio-CNG dispensation in October-December

ReFuels, a Netherlands-headquartered biomethane or bio-CNG supplier, dispensed 12,582 tonnes of bio-CNG across its 13 stations in the UK during the October-December quarter, up 54% year/year, it announced on February 29.

An average of 1,584 vehicles refuelled at CNG Fuels' stations during the quarter, representing a substantial growth from 1,092 vehicles in the corresponding period in the previous year. For 2023, ReFuels dispensed 43,269 tonnes of bio-CNG, representing a 65% increase from the 26,259 tonnes dispensed in 2022.

ReFuels was established in 2023 through the collaboration of CNG Fuels, the operator of CNG refuelling network in the UK, and biomethane supplier RTFS.

The company is currently in the process of developing five additional sites with an average capacity of 25,000 tonnes/year. This expansion initiative is set to increase the capacity to over 13,000 vehicles/day and 440,000 tonnes/year of bio-CNG, in addition to the existing two stations currently in development.

In November 2023, ReFuels opened its 13th refuelling station in Bangor, North Wales, under the CNG Fuels brand. The operational public access stations at the end of the quarter boasted a combined refuelling capacity of more than 6,000 trucks/day.
