3D Oil to Acquire 3D Survey Off West Oz
Sydney-listed 3D Oil has received approval from Australian offshore regulator National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) to acquire the Sauropod 3D marine seismic survey within WA-527-P permit offshore Western Australia, it said on July 14.
The Sauropod environment plan covers a maximum full-fold acquisition area of 3,447km2, and is scheduled for January-April 2021. The survey is primarily aimed at determining the potential for drilling targets that may be trapped by a Triassic erosional channel system located in the southwest of the permit which are analogous to the nearby Dorado discovery, 3D Oil said.
The survey is also intended to provide further insight on the potential of the Whaleback and Salamander leads and a Palaeozoic petroleum system in the north-east of the acreage.
In March 2017, 3D Oil was granted 100% interest in exploration permit WA-527-P in the offshore Roebuck Basin. WA-527-P covers an area of 6,580 km2 in water depths ranging between 65-170 metres.
