Adnoc exploring green hydrogen potential: CEO
While state-run Adnoc is prioritising blue hydrogen, the company is also exploring the potential of green hydrogen, company CEO and UAE minister Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber told The Hydrogen Economy - New Delhi Dialogue 2021 on April 15.
Al Jaber said that the company is exploring the potential of green hydrogen through the Abu Dhabi Hydrogen Alliance, which it recently established with Abu Dhabi state investor Mubadala and state-owned holding company ADQ. The alliance will work towards producing both green hydrogen and blue hydrogen for export to international markets.
“We are identifying viable international market opportunities and developing a roadmap to create a hydrogen ecosystem to serve both UAE and the global market,” Al Jaber said.
He said that Adnoc is working with partners, customers and other interested parties to build that value chain required to seed the emerging hydrogen market. “This represents another opportunity to further expand energy partnership with India,” he said. "We are keen to work with the Indian public and private sector to develop the hydrogen market for India’s growing demand for energy.”
India and UAE enjoy deep-rooted energy ties, Al Jabar said, and Adnoc is ready to help New Delhi meet the demand by making the full portfolio of its products available to the Indian market.
Al Jabar said that though hydrogen is in its infancy, it has the potential to be a game-changer and accelerate the broader energy transition.
