African Petroleum Seeks Gambia Ruling from Icsid
Australia-listed explorer African Petroleum (AP) said October 18 that it has lodged requests for arbitration in relation to its licences offshore Gambia.
It said the documents were lodged with the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in order to protect its interests in the A1 and A4 deepwater licences offshore The Gambia, and they have been registered and allocated ICSID case numbers.
ICSID is an arbitration tribunal based in Washington DC and part of the World Bank group.
AP had said October 16 that it was formally beginning arbitration proceedings against the Gambian government to protect its offshore interests. Separately, it also is asserting its rights to offshore Senegalese exploration blocks since allocated to Total.
