Aker wins $800mn Aussie contract
Oslo-listed Aker Solutions has been selected by Chevron Corp to provide compression technology to the Jansz-Io Compression project, offshore Western Australia, it said on July 2. The contract has been valued at 7bn Norwegian crowns ($808mn).
Aker said that it is in talks with Chevron to agree on the final terms of the contract. "A further announcement will be made when a contract is finalised,” the Norwegian engineering company said.

Chevron Corp on July 1 said it will proceed with the approximately $4bn Jansz-Io Compression project. A modification of the existing Gorgon development, Jansz-Io Compression project will involve the construction and installation of a 27,000 metric ton floating field control station, approximately 6,500 mt of subsea compression infrastructure and a 135 km submarine power cable linked to Barrow Island. Construction and installation activities are estimated to take approximately five years to complete.
Chevron Australia is the operator and a partner in the Gorgon joint venture. The Chevron-operated Gorgon project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and Jera.
