Algeria restarts Skikda LNG terminal
Algerian state oil and gas company Sonatrach returned its Skikda liquefaction plant to normal operations July 30 after a 45 day outage, it said. Sonatrach closed the plant June 11 to repair a gas turbine, carry out a full precautionary inspection and do some maintenance work that had been planned for next year.
The technical incident was caused by the sudden failure of a gas turbine control mechanism. There was no other damage owing to the deployment of automatic safety devices, it said at the time.
During that time, LNG deliveries to its clients were unaffected it said, as there was available capacity at three trains at its larger plant at Arzew: GL3Z, GL1Z and GL2Z. "Our commercial commitments were fulfilled completely," it said.
