Xinhua: Algeria, Turkey can launch major joint projects in Africa: Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that his country and Algeria can forge a multi-sector cooperation that would open the doors to launch major joint projects in Africa as the Turkish leader concluded his two- day visit to Algeria.
"I am convinced that Turkey and Algeria can achieve major joint projects in Africa," Erdogan told reporters during his visit.
Referring to the discussions he had with top Algerian officials, including with his counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Erdogan said "the talks I had with President Bouteflika allowed me to discuss the role of Algeria in the region," adding that he has seen major developments in Algeria since his first visit in 2013 when he was prime minister.
Speaking of bilateral relations, the Turkish president hailed the historic ties between the two nations, saying that 2016 will mark the 500th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations since the Ottoman era.
