Anadolu Agency: North Iraqi Gas to Reach Turkey in 2-3 yrs

The first phase of natural gas transit from northern Iraq is expected to reach Turkey in two to three years with an annual average of 10 billion cubic meters (bcm), Tony Hayward, chairman of Genel Energy said on Friday.

Speaking at the seventh annual Atlantic Council's Energy and Economic Summit in Istanbul, Stewart said "The Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) will become a major natural gas exporter."

"The Kurdish region [in northern Iraq] has in excess of 850 bcm of natural gas, with a potential of 5 trillion cubic meters of gas. It will satisfy the entire Turkish [gas] demand for decades to come," he explained.

"We are currently working on a financing plan with Turkish and international partners," he explained. MORE
