Antrim Energy Makes UK North Sea Hydrocarbon Find
Canadian exploration and production company, Antrim Energy has announced gas and oil finds at the Erne exploration well 21/29d-11 in the UK Central North Sea.
The company, which holds a 50 per cent interest in the well, made the discovery with partners in the project Premier Oil.
The well was drilled to a depth of 5,562 feet.
"Preliminary estimates indicate a thick gross hydrocarbon column in excess of 50 feet was encountered in the Eocene Upper Tay Sandstone, including 20 feet of net oil pay and a separate ten feet of net gas pay with average porosity exceeding 30 per cent and average hydrocarbon saturation of approximately 80 per cent," a statement for the company said.
The companies will not perform a flow test on well 21/29d-11 as initially planned. Instead, the companies have agreed to drill a sidetrack well from the pilot hole to further delineate the reservoir.
Antrim will move on to the nearby Carra Eocene Tay prospect in Block 21/28b, a prospect that it holds a 100 per cent interest in. An additional appraisal well is also due to be drilled in December at the Fyne Field in Block 21/28a.
