Australian gas infrastructure company APA Group has completed the pre-front end engineering design (pre-Feed) for the Judith gas field midstream infrastructure, operator Emperor Energy said on February 17.  

The pre-Feed study included designs for a gas processing plant adjacent to the existing Orbost gas processing plant owned by APA, a 40-km subsea pipeline connecting it with Judith and an export pipeline to the Eastern Gas Pipeline located to the north of the Orbost gas plant. The study also dealt with refining the project's indicative costs and scheduling.

Emperor and APA inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) relating to the Judith gas project in October 2019. The pre-Feed is the first stage of work to be progressed from the MoU. 

The design basis for the pre-Feed is 80mn ft³/day of sales gas across a 25-year project life. Australia's National Offshore Petroleum Titles Regulator recently granted Emperor more time to drill the Judith 2 exploration well. 

Judith, 100%-owned by Emperor, is located within the VIC/P47 permit in the offshore Gippsland basin, Victoria. Judith holds 150bn ft³ (4.25bn m³) in best-estimate contingent gas resources, and 1.2tn ft³ in best-estimate prospective resources, according to an independent appraisal completed in July 2019.
