Argentina Awards Contract for Uruguay Gas Supply
Argentine state-owned energy firm IEASA has awarded a contract for the purchase of gas between September and November that it intends to sell on to Uruguay's national oil company Ancap.
The contract was awarded on September 7 after an auction held on Argentine gas trading platform Mercado Energetico del Gas (Megsa), the bourse said in a statement. Megsa did not disclose the identity of the winner, but said they had beaten six competitors in the contest.
The company offered to provide 520,000 m3/day of gas in September, 470,000 m3/d in October and 400,000 m3/d in November at a price of $2.38/mn Btu (around $84/'000 m3). That price includes the cost of transporting gas from fields to a delivery point in Buenos Aires, as well as the cost of treatment and compression and other charges. IEASA will resell the gas to Ancap at a higher prices.
