Arrow Energy Gets Federal Approval for Queensland LNG Plant

Arrow Energy has been granted federal government approval for its proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Curtis Island off Gladstone, in central Queensland.

The plant gained state government approval in September, and is one of five developments under assessment or previously approved that together comprise the Arrow CSG-LNG project:

  • Arrow LNG Plant – State and Federal approval granted
  • Surat Gas Project – currently under Federal assessment
  • Arrow Surat Pipeline – approved in 2009
  • Bowen Gas Project – under State assessment
  • Arrow Bowen Pipeline – State approval granted, currently under Federal assessment

The LNG plant project includes a sub-harbour gas pipeline tunnel from Gladstone to Port Curtis, jetties and loading facilities.

The liquefaction facility will produce up to 18 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG, and includes the phased construction of up to four trains or processing plants on its Curtis Island site. Stage 1 includes the construction of two trains of around 4mtpa of LNG each on the Arrow site behind Boatshed Point.
