Arrow Gets Federal Nod for Surat Gas Project

Arrow Energy has been granted Federal government approval of its Surat gas project in south western Queensland.

The project, 160km west of Brisbane, would expand existing coal seam gas operations in the Surat Basin between Wandoan and Millmerran, the company said. The project is expected to provide gas for both the domestic and export markets. The project area covers Arrow's existing gas production wells at Tipton West, Daandine, Stratheden and Kogan North near Dalby, and a broader area extending from Wandoan to Dalby and south to Millmerran and Goondiwindi, in which Arrow holds petroleum tenure and environmental approvals for exploration.

The Surat gas project, which gained state government approval in October, is one of five developments under assessment or previously approved that together comprise the Arrow CSG-LNG project:

  • Arrow LNG Plant – State and Federal approval granted
  • Surat Gas Project – State and Federal approval granted
  • Arrow Surat Pipeline – approved in 2009
  • Bowen Gas Project – preparing supplementary report to the EIS
  • Arrow Bowen Pipeline – State approval granted, currently under Federal assessment
