Atlas Copco to Supply Gas Compressors to Samsung

Atlas Copco Gas and Process Division has secured compressor order for the carrier LNG market in Asia.

The order – placed by Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea – is for a total of four centrifugal and four gas screw compressors along with the necessary heaters and vapourisers, to be used on two Korean vessels, it said November 7.

The compressors, according to Atlas Copco, feature a compact design tailored for the needs of the smaller vessels and will be deployed aboard two small scale LNG carrier vessels, for the ships’ cargo handling system.

The vapour return compressors will provide tank pressure control during loading and the fuel-gas compressors will feed excess boil-off gas to the gas engine during operation. With a capacity of 7,500 m³ each, the vessels will join the fleet of Kogas.
