Aussie east coast LNG exports up 16% in Aug

LNG exports from the three projects on the Australian east coast came in at 1.94mn metric tons (mt) in August, up 16.1% year/year, according to the latest data published by Gladstone Ports Corp.

China was the biggest buyer and imported 1.35mn mt of LNG, up from 1.23mn mt in the same month last year. South Korea imported 353,315 mt, up from 115,643 mt, the data showed. Japan imported 65,307 mt as against 134,192 mt in the year-ago period.

The three east coast projects are APLNG; Gladstone LNG and Queensland Curtis LNG. In the 12 months to June 30, these projects exported a record 23mn mt of LNG.
