Australia's Pure Hydrogen signs MoU with Vietnam to supply hydrogen-fuelled buses

Australian clean energy company Pure Hydrogen Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Vietnam ASEAN Hydrogen Club (VAHC) for the supply of up to five hydrogen-powered buses, the company announced on July 22.

Under the MoU, Pure Hydrogen will provide up to five buses from its fleet of hydrogen-powered passenger transport vehicles, along with associated hydrogen infrastructure. The vehicles will be used as part of a demonstration of hydrogen vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City, funded by the VAHC in conjunction with Vietnam Tourism Partners and Industrial Partners.

The VAHC has expressed interest in up to three hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) minibuses and two HFC coaches, to be supplied by Pure Hydrogen and manufactured by its subsidiary HDrive International.

The MoU, while non-binding except for a few clauses, also outlines a framework for Pure Hydrogen to supply a 1MW alkaline electrolyser for hydrogen production along with hydrogen refuelling equipment. If fully executed, the proposed supply order in the MoU is expected to generate revenues of approximately A$8.8mn ($5.9mn) for Pure Hydrogen.

The demonstration, proposed by the VAHC and Vietnam Tourism Partners, will include the deployment of the HFC minibuses for sightseeing tours and the establishment of hydrogen production and refueling infrastructure to showcase the end-to-end use case for hydrogen vehicles in Vietnam’s passenger transport system.
