Baltic Gas Exchange Sees Record Trades in Jan

The year got off with a bang at the GET Baltic gas exchange, with a record number of deals: January's 2,482 transactions were 31% more than in January 2020 – and 77% more in terms of volume – and 6% more than December's 2,334 transactions. In all, 991 GWh changed hands, the exchange said February 12.

Lithuania's daily gas market saw the greatest volume traded.

Cold weather and growing competition on the gas exchange also had impact on the natural gas prices. Prices ranged between a low of €14.15/MWh and a high of €23.10/MWh. The volume-weighted average price in Lithuania was €18.23/MWh; in the Latvian-Estonian common market area it was €16.83/MWh; and in the Finnish market area it was €18.29/MWh.
