Bangladesh Has Little Shale Gas Potential
German firm DMT GmbH & Co. KG has found very little prospect of shale gas in Bangladesh, the state-run Hydrocarbon Unit director general M Osman Amin told local daily New Age.
A few months back Bangladesh government had appointed the German firm to study the country’s shale gas potentials.
According to New Age DMT GmbH carried out the study by taking stock of the available information, reviewing existing well logs of selected areas, establishing shale plays and their lateral extents, thickness and depth, and reviewing the existing geochemical data of shale formations.
The government would take a decision whether or not it would extend investigation to tap the potential of shale gas in Bangladesh, the newspaper said.
