Bangladesh to Study CBM Potential of Jamalganj Coal Mines
Bangladesh’s state owned company Petrobangla will appoint a consultant to study methane reserves at Jamalganj coal mines, the company said in a statement.
The government wants to utilise coal bed methane at Jamalganj to substitute for conventional natural gas without mining the coal.
Under the scope of the project the consultant would drill three core wells and conduct testing of coal samples for feasibility study of coal bed methane at the coal field.
Petrobangla intends to prepare a shortlist of internationally reputed consulting firms having requisite experience in feasibility study of coal bed methane with proven credibility and reliability in this area, the company said on its website.
