BG Group Eyeing Stake in LNG Terminals in West India

BG Group is looking to buy stake in one of the three upcoming liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals on the west coast of India.

British energy giant’s local unit, wants to pick up a stake in either of the LNG import facilities planned at Mundra in Gujarat or the one near Mumbai, or alternatively book capacities in the existing terminals at Dahej, Hazira (both in Gujarat) and Dabhol in Maharashtra, Press Trust of India.

The company is looking at regasification positions either in terms equity or capacity reservations in LNG terminals, the PTI reports said. Talks on the issue are at a preliminary stage with “certain parties” and nothing has been finalised so far.

BG India was interested only in terminals on the west coast as consumption centres are connected by pipeline networks.
