BP to help develop CCUS project in Indonesia: press

BP and Indonesian upstream regulator SKKMigas have signed a memorandum of understanding for carbon capture utilisation storage (CCUS) development in the southeast Asian country, local media reported on November 29. The project will be implemented at BP’s Tanggush LNG facility.

Nadir Zaki, BP president in Indonesia, said that project will have a capacity of 4mn metric tons of CO2/year, local news agency Bisnis.com reported. Then, the CO2 produced by the drilling process will be injected back into the reservoir.

The $2-3bn project will help ensure the Tangguh LNG plant has minimal emissions by 2026, he said. He estimated it could reduce emissions associated with the development by 90%.
