BP Restarts Shah Deniz Field
BP has restarted gas and condensate production from the Shah Deniz field after carrying out preventive works on the Alfa production platform, having been halted for a fortnight August 14.
The work has been successfully completed and "since August 28, both the platform and facilities operating at the Sangachal terminal within the Shah Deniz project have been operating at full capacity,” the UK major said. Caspian Sea gas is now also flowing into Georgia and Turkey once more.
At present, the maximum capacity of the existing production system at the Shah Deniz field is 30mn m³/d or 10.9bn m³/yr. In the first half of 2017 BP-Azerbaijan extracted 5.4bn m³ of gas and 1.2mn metric tons of condensate from Shah Deniz. In 2016, the production from Shah Deniz amounted to 10.7bn m³ of gas and 2.5mn mt of condensate.
