Bright Renewables, BerQ RNG to develop RNG projects in Michigan, New York

Biogas upgrading and valorisation technology provider Bright Renewables and renewable natural gas (RNG) company BerQ RNG have partnered to develop four RNG projects across Michigan and New York in the US, Bright Renewables announced on 24 July.

The four projects will deploy Bright Renewables' 3-stage membrane upgrader. In addition to these projects, Bright will also provide service and maintenance at three existing sites in Michigan and New York.

One of the awarded projects, located in West Michigan, is expected to produce 375 ft³/m (600 Nm³/hr) of raw biogas using Bright Renewables’ PurePac Type 02 system with a deoxygenation system. This project will enhance the delivery of RNG to the utility’s pipeline, marking a milestone in BerQ RNG’s sustainable RNG initiatives, Bright Renewables stated.

Another awarded project in Upstate New York is expected to produce 600 ft³/m (960 Nm³/hr) of raw biogas using the PurePac Type 02 system. The plant will supply RNG to the local utility’s pipeline.

BerQ and Bright together currently operate six upgraders at three different locations, have four upgraders in development, and plan to collaborate on additional projects.

The projects were awarded in December 2023 and are expected to be completed in 2024.
