Brussels Meeting Addresses Contested Ukrainian Gas Supply
A tripartite meeting between the European Union, Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Brussels has reached an agreement on status of gas supplies to the parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine presently under military action.
The parties agreed that only volumes supplied through gas collection points agreed with Ukraine’s transmission system operator Ukrtransgaz will be considered.
The meeting was held today today to evaluated the implementation of the Winter Package on Russian gas supplies to Ukraine and to discuss the framework for further cooperation between the parties.
In a statement this evening, Naftogaz said that it had presented evidence of breach of the Winter Package by the Russian side.
The European Commission delegation was headed by Vice-President on Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič. The Ukrainian side was represented by Minister of Energy Volodymyr Demchyshyn and Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev. The Russian Federation was represented by Minister of Energy Alexander Novak.
