Bulgaria’s Government Steps Up Efforts to Increase Energy Efficiency
Bulgaria is preparing for the “worst possible scenario,” Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki said on Thursday, adding that the government is trying to calm down tensions in the country.
“The government has accurate estimates of available gas quantities, and under my order from beginning of September UGS Chiren is being filled, so that we can have maximum reserves and be prepared for a possible gas crisis”, Bliznashki explained in Dobrich.
The Government is willing to find a solution on the eve of the elections, working to meet requests of stakeholders and to normalise the situation in the country. According to Bliznashki, the efforts will allow political parties to “present their arguments during the election campaign”.
‘The Prime Minister also pointed out that there was no political purge in the administration and that the topic of appointments by the caretaker government was exaggerated. According to him, the changes were minimal, compared to the ones made by the previous government.’
Earlier this month, the Government launched the Energy Board to stabilise the energy sector and ensure predictability in the sector.
