Bulgaria and Serbia to Speed up Work on Gas Interconnector
Bulgaria and Serbia are looking to speed up the realisation of the planned gas interconnector between the two countries.
Bulgarian economy minister Bozhidar Lukarski and Serbian minister of mining and energy Aleksandar Antic agreed to set up a joint work in order to pin the details of the project.
Sofia and Belgrade signed a memorandum for the construction of the gas interconnector in 2012, but it is still far from being accoplished.
The EBRD will focus on reviving the construction of a gas pipeline between Serbia and Bulgaria, which the two countries had put on hold until the South Stream project was scrapped, Suma Chakrabarti, president of the bank, said in an interview in Bloomberg.
According to Chakrabarti the gas link between the two countries is going up in the list of energy projects which could face realization after the cancellation of South Stream.
