Focus: Shale gas moratorium not lifted

In an interview with BNR the Economy Minister Delyan Dobrev explicitly stated that the shale gas moratorium was not lifted and that all texts banning its exploration and production had remained intact.

The amendments made only regarded the texts that hampered conventional drills.

He explained that a conventional oil or gas drill reaching a depth of 4-5 thousand meters used pressure of hundreds of bars. Bulgaria had made such drills ever since the 60ies and their number had so far reached 2,200-2,300.
