Focus: Bulgaria builds absolutely new tracks for South Stream project

“Absolutely new tracks are being built in Bulgaria for the South Stream gas pipeline project,” said Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delyan Dobrev, speaking with journalists at the Sunny Beach resort, FOCUS News Agency reporter informs.

Asked to comment on the benefits Bulgaria could possible get from participating in the South Stream Minister and wasn’t it better for the Russians to build the entire pipeline and Bulgaria not to invest in it but only get transit fees, Minister Dobrev said that Bulgaria was “50%-50% shareholder in the project and thus it cannot collect transit fee”.

“Our participation will not be 30%, as stated in the contract, but a symbolic one. The project is for more than EUR 3 billion, as these are entirely new tracks, which will be 50% owned by South Stream-Bulgaria.
