Focus: Nezavisimaya Gazeta: Bulgaria stakes on Azeri gas
Bulgaria mulls over importing natural gas from Azerbaijan yet before the launching of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in exploitation. The matter in point concerns small volumes, which Sofia will get through the existing gas distribution system of Turkey and through the interconnectors Turkey-Greece and Greece-Bulgaria, Russian Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes.
“In the end of 2016 we plan to launch in exploitation the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector, through which the Azeri gas will enter Bulgaria.
That is why the two countries are examining the opportunity for gas deliveries from SOCAR company to Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz as of 2017 through the Turkish gas network and the existing interconnectors Turkey-Greece to Komotini, as well as other possible routes,” the Bulgarian Embassy to Azerbaijan announced.
Sofia has been holding negotiations with Baku for a long time over cooperation in the energy sector, including natural gas import.
