Focus: “Energy strategy for Europe” conference held in Bulgaria’s capital
A conference themed “Energy strategy for Europe – diversification and energy security” was organised in the Bulgarian capital city Sofia on Tuesday. The event was hosted by Grand Hotel Sofia and was attended by Bulgarian Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova, Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova, Deputy Ministers of Energy Nikolay Nikolov and Zhecho Stankov, as well as by the executive directors of state-run energy companies.
Minister Petkova presented the actions outlined by the government targeting diversification of the sources and the routes of natural gas, as well as the reform in the management of the state-run companies.
“One of the top priorities of the Bulgarian government is to diversify both the sources and the routes of the natural gas,” Minister Petkova said, speaking at the conference.
“Geopolitically speaking, the situation is very complex and that is why this issue is a challenge not only for us but also for the countries in Central and Southeast Europe.
