FOCUS: Bulgarian Socialist Party MP: EC criticism on South Stream came after tip-off from the opposition

The letter of EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger criticising the government policy on South Stream followed a tip-off from the party of former PM Boyko Borisov, CEDB. 

This is what leftist MP and chairman of the Parliamentary Energy Committee Tasko Ermenkov said Tuesday, pointing to the introduction in the letter which read “It has been brought to the attention of the European Commission that…” as a confirmation of his words. Ermenkov also reminded that South Stream is the sole project in Bulgaria to open serious number of jobs in the country’s Northwest region. 

As to the criticism levied by EC, he explained that the EU gas directive quoted by Oettinger makes no mention of ”offshore gas pipelines”.  MORE
