Buru Energy Confirms Extension of Valhalla Tight Gas Accumulation

Buru Energy has large upgrade potential to the risked recoverable gas volumes at its Valhalla tight gas accumulation in the onshore Canning Basin with strong indications of a 35 kilometre southeast extension from its latest well.

While this will be confirmed by a full suite of wireline logs run to evaluate the thick Laurel Formation section and the gas shows that were encountered in the Asgard-1 well, high levels of background gas and gas peaks were seen throughout the Laurel Formation during drilling, Proactive Investors reported.

Logging, casing and suspending the well is expected to take about five days after which the Ensign Rig 32 will resume drilling of the Ungani North-1 well towards the primary Ungani reservoir.

Drilling of Ungani North-1 was suspended after being drilled to a depth of 2,292 metres after a mechanical failure resulted in damage to the top drive and potentially to other parts of the Century Rig 7 that was carrying out the work.

Asgard-1 in EP 371 is the fifth well to be drilled by Buru and Mitsubishi Corporation equal joint venture and targets the Upper and Lower Laurel gas reservoirs.
