Cairn India Looking for Global Partners for India Shale Exploration
Cairn India is in search of global partners for shale exploration in its block in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
According to financial daily Economic Times, the company is also of the view that policy regime should be such that it allow companies to produce hydrocarbons irrespective of whether they are contained in a conventional field or a new source.
"We are constantly studying how to drill and explore shale from blocks in Rajasthan. In fact, we are very keen to partner with some of the best global names to carry this out," company CEO P Elango told news channel ET NOW.
He said the company should be allowed to look for share resources in its block where it is producing oil. "Shale is merely one more form of the hydrocarbon molecule.”
"This distinction between conventional and non-conventional is created artificially and needs to be broken. Cairn India's view is that every contractor should be encouraged to explore a particular block under Shale, CBM or NELP policy," Economic Times quoted him as saying.
