Cameron Appoints Rudd As Secretary General for Energy, Finds Public Support
British Prime Minister David Cameron decided to appoint Amber Rudd, a former investment banker, as secretary of state for the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
AlsoThe Guardian, traditionally critical of Conservatives’ position, welcomed Cameron’s move. According to the British daily newspaper, Rudd is expected to push hard for a deal in Paris to cut emissions.
Recently, Rudd threw her politician weight to support shale gas, as long as it is carried out on a safe fashion.
“I think fracking is a positive thing to have in the UK, as long as we can do it extremely safely and reassure communities that that’s the case, and I think we can” she said months ago.
On Monday, the British gas industry registered other changes too.
Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) appointed new figures. The Oil & Gas UK, association representing over 500 companies working on the UK offshore oil and gas, welcomed the new appointments.
