Canada’s Black Diamond Group Earns Goldboro Camp Contract
Canada’s Black Diamond Group said October 1 it had received a letter of award from Pieridae Energy to supply and operate a 5,000-bed workforce accommodation camp for the 10mn mt/yr Goldboro LNG project in Nova Scotia.
The award – to exclusively negotiate a contract worth an estimated C$720mn (US$543mn) – was made to a partnership of Black Diamond and Wskijnu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency (WMA), which is owned by Nova Scotia’s 13 Mi’kmaw communities.
The partnership, Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia Black Diamond Limited Partnership, is owned 51% by WMA. The Mi’kmaq will be responsible for the lodge’s hospitality services, while Black Diamond will be responsible for the supply and rental of the lodge, largely from its existing Canadian inventory of modular housing units.
Any contract flowing from the negotiations remains subject to a positive final investment decision by Pieridae on its Goldboro project by June 30, 2021, at which time the contract would take effect.
In 2018, Black Diamond was awarded a contract to supply workforce accommodation to TC Energy’s Coastal GasLink pipeline project.
