Canadian Research Group Moves Conference Date

In yet another casualty of industry gatherings to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) has moved its traditionally-June 2020 Petrochemical Conference to September.

The conference, in the Alberta Foothills resort of Kananaskis, will now be held September 23-25, with a golf tournament set for September 23 followed by two days of conference proceedings.

Natural Gas World’s own Canadian Gas Dialogues 2020 conference, originally set for April 1, was moved in early March to September 21, while other conference organisers have also moved to postpone or cancel their events.

As yet, however, the largest of the planned Alberta events – the Global Energy Show (previously the Global Petroleum Show) – is sticking to its June 9-11 date in Calgary.

London-based DMG events, which operates energy industry events around the world, has already moved to cancel or postpone all its events originally scheduled up to August 31, 2020. Included is its 2020 edition of Canada Gas & LNG in Vancouver, which has been cancelled; the 2021 event is set for May 11-13, 2021.

But DMG’s Calgary operation – which operates the Global Energy Show apart from the parent company – says only that it is “monitoring the situation closely and working in close partnership with health and government authorities to determine our further actions which will be communicated to all stakeholders very shortly.” That update, DMG told NGW, is now expected next week.
