CGA appoints FortisBC CEO as its new chair

The Canadian Gas Association (CGA), whose members meet 38% of Canada’s energy needs, said June 28 it had appointed FortisBC CEO Roger Dall’Antonia as its new chair of the board of directors.

Dall’Antonia takes over as chair from Jason Sharpe, president of ATCO Gas & Pipelines, who held the position from April 2022. During his tenure, Sharpe led the CGA through a particularly busy period for the natural gas delivery industry, with CGA and its subsidiary CGA Enterprises hosting two significant global conferences – LNG2023 in Vancouver in July 2023 and IGRC2024 in Banff in May – launching several major campaigns and witnessing significant sector growth.

Dall’Antonia joined FortisBC, British Columbia’s largest energy provider, with 1.2mn customers, in 2004 and has held several leadership roles at the utility, including executive oversight of customer service and technology, regulatory affairs, strategic planning and corporate development, finance and treasury.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Ivey School of Business at Western University, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

“I’m looking forward to taking on the board chair role at CGA,” Dall’Antonia said. “The need for the association’s work has never been greater. Gas energy – natural gas, renewable natural gas, the potential of hydrogen – and its infrastructure are relied upon by Canadian families and businesses and the industry is rising to the challenge of emission reductions by providing innovative energy solutions that meet their needs.”

Alongside Dall’Antonia’s appointment, the CGA also named Enbridge executive vice president Michele Harradence as first vice chair and Mark Guillet, CEO of SaskEnergy, as second vice chair.
