NGAmericas: Cheniere Attracts Investors for Sabine Pass LNG Project

Cheniere Energy, Inc. announced today Temasek, the investment arm of the Singapore government and private equity fund RRJ Capital, are making an investment of approximately $468 million in the company.

Combined, this would result in Temasek and RRJ Capital holding 19 per cent stake in investment in Cheniere, which is redeveloping the Sabine Pass terminal on the coast of Louisiana, to liquefy natural gas for export.

Cheniere said that it intends to use the proceeds from the investment towards purchase of $500 million of the $2 billion of equity securities anticipated to be issued by Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. in connection with the financing of the Sabine Pass LNG liquefaction project.  MORE
