US Cheniere Earns Feed Gas Okay for Corpus Christi

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) on August 16 approved a request from Cheniere Energy to introduce feed gas to the first train at its Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) project in Texas.

The authorisation also allows Cheniere to operate the terminal’s dry flare system, but specifically prohibits the introduction of “hazardous fluids into other project facilities at the LNG terminal.”

In its 2Q 2018 financial report, Cheniere said the 4.5mn metric tons/year Train 1 at CCL was in the commissioning phase, with “substantial completion” expected in the first half of 2019. Train 2, also 4.5mn mt/yr, is under construction, with targeted substantial completion in 2H 2019, while Train 3 will be completed in the second half of 2021.
