Cheniere Energy to finish Sabine Pass expansion earlier than planned
US LNG company Cheniere Energy said November 4 the sixth train at its Sabine Pass export terminal could be completed by the first quarter of 2022, a year ahead of the original schedule.
Cheniere posted total revenues for the three months ending September 30 of $3.2bn, a 119% increase over the same period last year. Total cargoes of natural gas shipped out in liquid form reached 141 during the period, a substantial improvement over the year-earlier level of 55.

As of October 31, the company said it had shipped out more than 1,800 cargoes of LNG in total.
Jack Fusco, the company’s CEO, said Cheniere was on pace to realise its ambition of building up to nine trains at the Sabine Pass terminal. The sixth train at Sabine Pass is expected online by the first quarter, approximately one year ahead of schedule.
Cheniere added two long-term sales purchase agreements with Hong Kong-listed ENN Energy Holding and Anglo-Swiss multinational commodity trading giant Glencore during the quarter.
“These transactions showcase the global demand for securing flexible, reliable LNG supply for the long term as well as Cheniere’s role as a leading global LNG supplier,” Fusco added.
Sabine Pass will boast a liquefaction capacity of 30mn metric tons/yr once its sixth train enters service. Cheniere also operates an export facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. A final investment decision on expansions to that 15mn mt/yr facility is forthcoming.
