China CBM Output to Reach 30 Billion Cubic Meter by 2015

China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) said Saturday that country’s coal-bed methane output is expected to reach 30 billion cubic meters by 2015.

Asia’s biggest economy aims to add 1 trillion cubic meters of coal-bed methane to its reserves over the next four years.

China also plans to build methane production bases in Qinshui Basin in Shanxi province and Ordos Basin in Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The country will set up 13 pipelines with a capacity of 12 billion cubic meters.

The country's methane resources are estimated at 37 trillion cubic meters, ranking third in the world.
