China Completes Third West-East Gas Pipeline

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) on Monday announced completion of third West-to-East natural gas pipeline.

The pipeline is expected to come on stream in 2015, with an annual transport capacity of 30 billion cubic meters, Xinhua reported citing a company statement.

The 7,378 km pipeline consists of one trunk line and eight feeder lines, and spans across 10 provinces and autonomous regions.

The 5,000 km trunk line starts from Horgos in west China's Xinjiang and end at Fuzhou, capital city of southeastern coastal Fujian province.

The pipeline network is expected to transport around 25 billion cubic meters of gas from central Asian countries each year, while 5 billion cubic meters of gas will come from Xinjiang, Xinhua said.

China's first West-to-East natural gas pipeline starts from Xinjiang and ends at Shanghai.

The second West-to-East natural gas pipeline, measuring around 8,700 km, can transfer 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually. It runs from Xinjiang to Guangdong province in the south.
