China's Gas Consumption Continues to Grow

Figures released by the National Development and Reform states China's natural gas consumption in July equalled the level reached in February at 10.3 billion cubic meters which was 24.5% more than last year.

The overall gas consumption in the Asian nation is set to go up following commissioning of the eastern section of the second West-to-East gas pipeline, enabling the Central Asia gas to reach the southern province of Guangdong for the first time in late June.

Gas imports have also increased in July, with total volume surging 102.4% year on year to 2.7 Bcm, bringing imports in the first seven months 100% more year on year to 16.8 Bcm. Imports from the Central Asia pipeline during the month touched 1.2 Bcm, while LNG imports were at 1.5 Bcm.
