China-Myanmar Pipelines to be Operational This Year
Myanmar-China oil and gas pipelines are scheduled to become operational this year, CRI English reported quoting Gao Shuxun, vice governor of southwest China's Yunnan province.
Gao on Tuesday said that the work in Chinese segment had gone well and construction in overseas sections will now speed up, CRI reported.
The natural gas pipeline will begin operating in the first half of this year and the oil pipeline will be functional by either the end of the year or the beginning of next year.
The pipelines run from the port of Kyaukpyu in Myanmar's west coast into China's Ruili city, Yunnan province.
The oil pipeline design features an annual transport capacity of 22 million tonnes, while the natural gas pipeline will have an annual transport capacity of 12 billion cubic meters.
