China Seeks Inputs on Sinopec's Wenzhou LNG Terminal

State Oceanic Administration of China has sought public suggestions in connection with Wenzhou LNG receiving terminal, Xinhua Finance reported Tuesday.

The Administration recently issued a simplified oceanic environment assessment.

The terminal is being developed by Sinopec and construction could start in September this year and is expected to take about 34 months.

Located in Wenzhou in China's Zhejiang province, the LNG receiving terminal would be able to pump 3 million tonnes of natural gas into pipelines each year in the first phase, Xinhua Finance reported. The terminal is also expected to supply 500,000 tonnes of fuel to LNG tankers in addition to transferring LNG to smaller LNG carriers.

According to Xinhua Finance, four 200,000-cubic meters LNG storage tanks would be built in the first phase. A berth would be built to handle LNG carriers with capacity ranging from 80,000 cubic meters to 266,000 cubic meters. A 24.58-km natural gas pipeline would be built from the terminal to Leqing station.
