China starts work on Xiong'an New Area pipe
China has begun the construction of a natural gas pipeline that runs to the Xiong'an New Area, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on April 13 citing a statement by China Oil & Gas Piping Network Corp.
The 413.5-km pipeline starts from China's Tianjin Municipality and runs into the neighbouring Hebei province, where the new area is located, the news agency said. The pipeline will have a transmission capacity of 6.6bn m3/year and cost 8.6bn yuan ($1.3bn) to build.

China announced its plan to establish the Xiong'an New Area in April 2017, aiming to relieve Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as the national capital and to advance the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
