China's 1H Gas Consumption up 17% on Year

China’s natural gas consumption during January-June witnessed sharp increase thanks to government’s coal to gas switching policy that was launched early last year.

During a press briefing organised July 30, China’s National Energy Administration’s (NEA) Li Fulong said that country’s apparent gas consumption during 1H grew by 16.8% year on year. He did not provide the actual numbers. However, as per the latest government data, usage in May was 22.53bn m3, up nearly 18% year on year while cumulative consumption during the January-April period was 90.6bn m3, up 17.7% year on year.
