China’s gas imports surge 14% in H1
China's natural gas imports, via pipeline and as LNG, totalled 64.65mn tonnes for the January to June period (H1), marking a 14.3% year/year increase, according to data released by the customs department on July 12.
In June alone, imports reached 10.42mn tonnes, indicating sustained growth in gas imports. The surge in natural gas imports is attributed to softer global LNG prices, which have made imports more attractive.
