China's June LNG Imports Up
China imported 4.53mn metric tons of LNG in June, up 14% year-on-year, customs department’s data published July 23 showed. Compared month-on-month, June imports were up over 2%.
During the first six months of the year, China imported 28.37mn mt of LNG as against 23.81mn mt during the same period last year.
If the trend seen in the first half of the year continues, Asia’s biggest economy will end up with another record year. Last year, the country imported record 54mn mt of LNG. According to a report published by Wood Mackenzie, China will become world’s biggest LNG importer by 2022.
