China's LNG imports up 32% in April

China imported 6.22mn tonnes of LNG in April, marking a significant increase of 31.5% compared with the same month last year, according to data published by the customs department on May 18.

In the first four months of 2024, China's total LNG imports reached 25.91mn tonnes, representing a 22.7% increase year/year. 

Conversely, China experienced a slight decline in pipeline gas imports in April, totaling 4.07mn tonnes, a 3.2% decrease from the previous year. Despite this monthly decline, the overall pipeline gas imports for the January-April period amounted to 17.09mn tonnes, up 17.6% year/year.
